Coast - to - Coast

Dad and I are going to Washington, D.C. to see X play Thursday. They will win, so we'll see them on Saturday too. We're driving tomorrow.

This month we go East Coast. Next month we go West Coast.

And I love Washington, D.C. So much to see and do!

Last of the 3s

In unrelated news, Xavier University (proud alumna speaking) got the last 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. They are in the West bracket, starting Thursday against Georgia in Washington, D.C. Guess it's time to fill out my bracket. Probably do 2: One where X wins it all, the other more practical one. Love the Muskies but just not sure how this one is going to go.

Finalizing Addresses

Getting addresses, finishing up the "database" of stops and sights. So much to see, so little time. Pretty sure this is going to be "trip 1" of many. I only hope Route 66 can last long enough for the next trip. Every day it crumbles a little more. Just today I was Googling sites and found 2 which had burned down. So much of what used to be main attractions are just shambles now. Deterioration. It's sad to imagine what's left of the Mother Road, but yet, there are some who have painstakingly worked to keep up their "hot spots" so not all is lost.

So many interesting things to see! I hope we make it to Springfield, Missouri on April 24 for the Typewriter Toss! It happens every year on "Secretary's Day", where typewriters (maybe computers in this day and age) are chucked from 50 feet above ground!

And at Johnnie's Grill in El Reno, Oklahoma, they make up the world's largest hamburger (750 pounds!) during the first weekend in May. Sadly, we'll miss this.

Anyway, there are still many details to work out but we're getting there. Only about one month till departure!

Bad news... and we're still a month away!

Yesterday gas went up to $3.45/gallon.

This is going to be an expensive trip!
